How to Build a Bulk Chipmunk Trap
Chipmunks are adorable little creatures, but they destroy plants and carry diseases. If you have a chipmunk infestation issue, set traps to catch the pesky animals. Live traps are available to catch chipmunks, but most live traps will catch one chipmunk at a time. By setting a bulk trap, you can catch multiple chipmunks at a time. Find materials at your local hardware store to get rid of the chipmunk infestation.

Instructions

1
Find a large cardboard box such as a box for a television or refrigerator. A cardboard box will block birds and other non-target animals from feeding on the bait and getting trapped.
-
2
Using scissors, cut five 2-inch holes near the bottom of the cardboard box -- holes big enough for only chipmunks to enter. Place weights or heavy objects such as rocks on top of the box to prevent the wind from blowing the box away.

-
3
Sprinkle one cup of pumpkin slices, sunflower seeds and cereals inside the box as bait.
-
4
Place 10 spring-release rat traps on the ground inside the box. Rig the traps with bait, but do not set the trap springs. The chipmunks will then learn to use the trap as a food source. Replace the bait and let the chipmunks eat freely for three days. Let the chipmunks eat from the bait on the traps and on the ground.
-
5
Remove the weights and lift the box. Bait the traps and ground. After three days, set the triggers on the traps.
-
6
Check the traps daily. Remove chipmunks trapped in the rat traps. Replace the traps and bait the box. Repeat until you catch all the chipmunks.
