How to Get the Warthog with Cortana at the End in "Halo"
Videogame developer Bungie teamed with Microsoft to create the 2001 hit game "Halo" on the first iteration of the Xbox console. Fans were treated to a first-person shooter (FPS) that deviated from other similar games by allowing players to drive or pilot a number of high-tech in-game vehicles. Driving is a needed skill at the end of the game, when players are tasked with escaping the Pillar of Autumn ship, saving Master Chief and Cortana from certain doom.

1
Start a saved game from your last save point and play your way through to the end of the last chapter, "The Maw." Here, Master Chief has been ordered to set a detonator on a six-minute timer that will ultimately destroy the Halo before all life on Earth ceases to exist. As you can imagine, there's a lot to accomplish before successfully escaping to freedom.
-
2
Set the detonator as advised by Cortana. She'll remind you that you have only six minutes to make it out alive --- and that she has confidence that you simply won't make it. Ignore her. Once the elevator door opens on the top level, make your way straight ahead to the Warthog room. Here you'll find six vehicles ready to go; ignore them and flip the flaming Warthog over --- a time-saving move, since you'd otherwise have to back one of the other vehicles out of its holding bay.

3
Pay close attention to your heads-up display (HUD) on the lower part of your screen; it tells you how close you're coming to your final destination, which will be about 2.5 kilometers off. There are a few enemies fighting among themselves in the next room. Ignore them, and drive up the ramp and straight through the narrow passage to reach the first open courtyard.
-
4
Drive into the tunnel on the far side and hug the right wall to avoid smashing headlong into a damaged pillar. Head to the right in the next hallway and into the second courtyard, where you need to get into the right tunnel. Go through to the next large hallway, which is filled with large pillars. Weave in and out of the pillars, running over enemies as you go, and continue forward to the extraction point, where you're supposed to be rescued by Foehammer, a friendly ship.
-
5
Continue forward without trying to reach Foehammer --- it gets quickly shot down. Listen to Cortana, who tells you to jump at the bridge. Press the "A" button to get as much momentum as possible, shooting yourself across the gap where you'll fall (don't worry --- you're supposed to) into a large tunnel. Drive forward; the Warthog will be damaged. Ignore any hostiles in this area and run on foot to the hangar doors, triggering a cutscene that signals the end of the game.
