How Can I Get My Yahoo! Answers Account Deleted?

Save

Yahoo! Answers is provided as a way for the Yahoo! community to ask questions and get simple, timely answers. Questions can be answered by anyone with a Yahoo! account, so the accuracy of such answers is sometimes questionable. Deleting Yahoo! Answers can only be done by deleting your entire Yahoo! account. If you don't want to do this, you can instead remove everything you've added to your Yahoo! Answers account, such as the avatar and profile info. You can also make all of your questions and answers private.

Delete Yahoo! Account

  • Go to the "Account Termination" page shown under "Resources."

  • Type in your password to verify your account.

  • Read the entire page called, "Terminating Your Yahoo! Account" to understand exactly what gets deleted.

  • Type your password again in the box near the bottom of the screen.

  • Enter the security code and click the "Terminate this Account" button. Choose "Return to Account Information" to cancel.

Yahoo! Answers Profile

  • Go to the Yahoo! Answers homepage and click your name near the right side of the page where it shows how many points you have.

  • Click "Edit My Preferences" to remove your avatar or change your name.

  • Use "Manage Emails" to prevent anyone from contacting you. You will be asked again to verify your password. Click "Delete" next to any email addresses you don't want associated with the account. Click Save to confirm the changes.

  • Click the "Privacy and Communications" tab to remove all of the checkmarks from each option. This will prevent Yahoo! from emailing you.

  • Under "Sharing and Network," change the drop-down menus to "Contacts Only." This will make your questions and answers private and no longer viewable by the regular users on the site.

  • Click "Submit," and do not return to the site.
