Warning

Apply 2,4-D Lo-V Ester exactly as directed; this herbicide is toxic.

Keep the 2,4-D Lo-V Ester away from livestock, pets and children.

The application of 2,4-D Lo-V Ester may temporarily prevent soil from germinating all seeds.

Do not apply 2,4-D Lo-V Ester in windy weather as the herbicide mist may injure other susceptible plants.

Distinguished by its spicy, bitter aroma and greenish-gray foliage, sagebrush is a perennial shrub native to deserts and dry rangelands throughout western regions of North America. Sagebrush plants normally reach three or four feet in height, and contain woody trunks with short branches. Although sagebrush provides food and nesting cover for wildlife, this competitive shrub deprives other perennial grasses and plants of moisture and nutrients. Control of sagebrush becomes essential when it dominates desired plants. Fortunately, homeowners can kill undesired sagebrush using certain techniques.

Prepare to kill the sagebrush plants with a chemical herbicide. Put on long clothes (pants and shirt), a chemical-resistant apron and gloves, protective shoes, and safety glasses to avoid exposure to the herbicide.

Mix 2,4-D Lo-V Ester with water in a bucket. Read the 2,4-D Lo-V Ester label to determine the specific ratio of herbicide and water recommended for killing your specific sagebrush species. Thoroughly mix the diluted 2,4-D Lo-V Ester solution.

Pour the diluted 2,4-D Lo-V Ester solution into a pump sprayer. Spray the 2,4-D Lo-V Ester solution onto the sagebrush foliage while the plants are blooming. Sagebrush plants’ blooming seasons vary from late May to August, depending on the species.

Wait for the sagebrush plants to die. Do not treat the sagebrush plants with 2,4-D Lo-V Ester again until their next blooming season.
