How to Make a 6x6 Album

How to Make a 6x6 Album thumbnail
Be creative and original when designing a custom 6-inch by 6-inch photo album.

Commercially produced photo albums and scrapbooks come in several sizes, but they often lack the customization and personalization that homemade albums can offer. The many available materials sold in craft stores make the construction of your own homemade album simple. Create a small, 6-inch by 6-inch album to store your photos and memories in a way that showcases your own personal style.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw two 6-inch squares onto a sheet of chipboard with a pencil. Use a ruler to draw straight lines.

    • 2

Place the chipboard over a cutting mat or board and cut out the squares, following the pencil lines, with a utility knife.

    • 3

Flip a sheet of patterned scrapbook paper over to the blank side. Draw two 8-inch squares onto the paper with a pencil and a ruler.

    • 4

Cut the squares out of the scrapbook paper, following along the pencil lines, with scissors.

    • 5

Spray one side of a chipboard square with adhesive and place it, adhesive side down, onto the center of the blank side of a scrapbook paper square.

    • 6

Spray one side of the second chipboard square and place it onto the center of the back side of the second scrapbook paper square.

    • 7

Dip a paintbrush into white glue. Brush the excess paper around each of the edges of the chipboard squares. Fold the paper over the edges and onto the chipboard squares as you would when wrapping a gift. Smooth the paper into place.

    • 8

Adjust a three-hole punch so that the holes are 2 inches apart.

    • 9

Flip the chipboard squares over to the sides that are completely covered with the scrapbook paper.

    • 10

Punch holes along one side of each chipboard square with the three-hole punch. Position the chipboard so that the top hole is 1 inch down from the top edge of the chipboard.

    • 11

Place one chipboard square, covered side down, with the holes along the left side.

    • 12

Place a stack of 6-inch album refill pages, with the holes to the left side, on top of the chipboard square.

    • 13

Place the second chipboard square, covered side up and with the holes on the left side, on the top of the stack.

    • 14

Place a binder ring through each of the three holes, poking through both pieces of chipboard and the album refill pages. Add your photos into the spaces in the refill pages.
