How to Set Up C840 ProForm

The ProForm C840 is an exercise system that includes a locking barbell, a weight bench, a lat tower and a curl bar. The barbell runs along a track that has locking holes and stoppers to protect you from dropping or losing control of the bar. The C840 takes standard, one-inch weight plates, but the system comes with adapters so you can use Olympic, two-inch plates. You will have to adjust the settings on the bench and rack before doing each exercise.¬

    • 5

Lift the adjustment lever with the other hand.

    • 6

Raise or lower the backrest to the desired position. The backrest has one flat position and four incline positions.

Raise or lower the spotter to the desired position. Lower the handle so the hook engages into one of the slots in the upright. Repeat on safety spotter on the other upright.

Tips & Warnings

  • Push on the backrest to make sure it is secure before you sit on the bench.

  • Push on the curl pad to make sure it is secure before you use it.

  • Position both safety spotters at the same level.

  • Set the safety spotters at the lowest position you want the barbell to travel during an exercise. For example, if you are doing a chest press, place the spotters right above chest level so if the bar falls, the spotters catch it before it hits your chest.

  • After loading weight plates onto the machine, use a weight clip to secure the weights in place.

  • The weight bench has a maximum user weight of 300 lbs. and a maximum total weight of 610 lbs.

  • Do not place more than 310 lbs. on the locking bar, or more than 150 lbs. on the weight carriage, leg lever or curl bar.

  • Consult a physician before starting an exercise program.
