No one wants to find a hole in the pocket of their favorite pair of jeans. If this happens to you, don't despair, you can mend that hole with a fusible web product called Stitch Witchery. Needle and thread are not needed! Stitch Witchery is a thin strip of fabric that has glue on both sides. When the glue is activated, Stitch Witchery can fuse two pieces of fabric together. Stitch Witchery comes in spools in various thicknesses, so you will be sure to find the size needed to mend the pocket.

Instructions

    • 1

Trim any stray threads around the hole. Make sure it is free of lint and other particles. Measure the size of the hole and add ¼ inch to that measurement. Cut a piece of Stitch Witchery according to that measurement.

    • 2

Pull the pocket with the hole out from the jeans and lay it on an ironing board. Place the Stitch Witchery piece inside the hole so its edge lines up with the edge of the hole.

    • 3

Lie a damp paper towel over the pocket. Place your iron over the paper towel and apply pressure for 10 seconds. If your iron has a steam function, you can steam it during the 10 seconds. Allow the pocket to cool before you touch it.

Tips & Warnings

  • This technique will slightly reduce the size of the pocket.

  • This method works best if the hole is in the seam of the pocket or along the pocket's fold.
