How to Add a Product to Google Merchant

Google Merchant Center allows sellers to have their products appear in all of the Google-branded properties including Good AdWords, Google Commerce and Google Product Search. Creating a Google Merchant Center account and linking an already existing online store to the Google Merchant Center service allows all of the products in the online store to be added to the appropriate Google listings automatically. All you need to activate the service is a Google account.

      Navigate to the Google Accounts Web page (google.com/accounts) and create a free account in order to utilize the Google Merchant Center. The account will work with Google Merchant and a host of other Google products, including GMail.

      Log into the Google Merchant website (google.com/merchants) using your Google account and select a location from the drop-down menu when prompted.

      Press "Continue" and review the Terms of Service displayed on the screen. Scroll to the bottom of the Terms of Service and click next to the box marked "Yes, I have read and accept the Terms of Agreement." Click "Continue" to proceed with the registration process.

      Configure the Google Merchant Center account by providing the store's name, address, website address and contact information in the spaces provided. Click the "Save Updates" button at the bottom of the screen once all the information has been entered.

      Use the Google Merchant dashboard displayed on the screen to ensure that all of the store's products are listed with Google. New products can be added by clicking on the "Data Feeds" menu located on the left side of the dashboard and clicking the "New data feed" button. Data feeds are files of information you create through Google Merchant Center about each specific product that allow customers to search for and find your items. Products that are not automatically appearing in the account can be activated by clicking on the "Products" menu located on the left side of the dashboard and entering the product ID in the space provided. Click "Activate" to complete the process.
