How to Shrink a Stetson

Cowboy hats are easier to make smaller rather than larger.

Cowboy hats are great fashionable apparel, especially if you are out West, riding a horse or going to a country music concert. Stetson cowboy hats are a more expensive brand of cowboy hat that you should keep clean and shaped. If you get a significant hair cut, your hat size might decrease, or you may find yourself between hat sizes. In these cases, do not worry, it is always easier to decrease the size of your hat rather than increase the size.

Things You'll Need

• Foam reducing tape

Instructions

1. Place the Stetson on your head. Move the hat from front to back, and from side to side. Run your finger around the inside of your Stetson and feel where there is the most space.

2. Cut two-inch strips of foam reducing tape. Insert the foam reducing tape where you felt the most space, placing it under the sweat band.

3. Repeat the first three steps until your Stetson fits comfortably, yet snugly on your hear. It may take a few times to fit and adjust it right.

Tips & Warnings

• You can stack the inserts on one another inside the sweatband to decrease the size, and make the foam reducing strips longer to help fit your Stetson.

• Seek out help from associates within Western clothing stores that sell cowboy hats.
