Turn the copier off before working on it.

When the print cartridge in your Canon PCII copier begins to run low, you may notice problems like spots and streaks on the pages, as well as print that appears gray and washed out. When this happens, it is time to change the print cartridge, which is something that normally takes a matter of minutes. But if the current cartridge is stuck in the PCII, the process can take a bit longer and require a little more finesse.

Instructions

    • 1

Shut down the Canon PCII copier and remove the power cord. Allow the copier to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before opening it.

    • 2

Go to the side of the copier where the paper exits the machine. Pull the handle to release the door to the print cartridge.

    • 3

Grasp the print cartridge by the handle and try to pull it out. Use gentle but firm pressure and pull the cartridge toward you.

    • 4

Feel around the sides of the cartridge for paper if it does not come out right away. There could be a paper jam preventing the cartridge from sliding properly.

    • 5

Wiggle the cartridge back and forth, using a gentle rocking motion. Continue rocking the cartridge back and forth until it starts to move forward. Use steady pressure to pull the cartridge straight out of the printer.
