How to Find My Messages on the Craigslist Site

You can sell just about anything on Craigslist.

Craigslist is a website where you can post classified ads free. When you create a Craigslist posting, users can contact you through your email address or through an anonymized email address, which Craigslist assigns to each ad placed when you check the "anonymize" radio button. Whichever option you choose, you still access your messages in the same place. If you want to find your messages on the Craigslist site, you must remember which email address you used to place the ad. While you can't retrieve your messages on the Craigslist site itself, you can find the messages in your email.

Instructions

1. Locate the email address you used to make the posting. If you didn't anonymize your address, the email will be listed in the actual posting. Find your posting on Craigslist by typing a keyword into the "Search" box on the home page and then selecting a category your item was listed in from the drop down list. Press "Enter" and then scan the search results for your ad.

2. Log into your email account.

3. Navigate to the inbox. You Craigslist messages -- if you received any -- will be in your account. If you don't see the messages in your inbox, check your spam folder.

Tips & Warnings

• If you created a Craigslist account when you listed your ads, revisit the website; as long as you didn't clear your browsing history, you may still be logged in. The email address you used during the sign up procedure will be listed at the top left of the page.
