      Start with the wrist. Chain 30 and join to form a ring. Be careful not to twist the chain. Chain one then single crochet in each stitch around and slipstitch to the first stitch.

      For round two, chain three, then double-crochet in each stitch around and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round three, chain three and front-post double-crochet in the next stitch, then double-crochet. Repeat around and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For rounds four through six, repeat round three. Turn inside out. For round seven, chain three, then double-crochet in the back loops and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For rounds eight through 10, chain three, then double-crochet in each stitch around and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round 11, chain three, then double-crochet in each stitch around until the last four stitches. Do two double-crochets in each of last four stitches and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round 12, chain three, then double-crochet in each stitch around and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round 13, chain three then double-crochet in each stitch around until last nine stitches. Do a half-double-crochet in each of the last nine stitches and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round 14, chain three, then double-crochet in each double-crochet and the first half-double-crochet. Slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch, leaving the eight remaining stitches for the thumb. For round 15, chain two and half-double-crochet in each stitch around and fasten off. Weave in the ends.

      Crochet the thumb. Attach the yarn and chain three. Double-crochet in each stitch around except around the post, where you will do two double-crochets in that stitch. Slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round two, chain three, then double-crochet two stitches together and double-crochet. For round three, chain three, then double-crochet in each stitch around and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. Double-crochet in the next six stitches, then do two double-crochets in next three stitches. Double-crochet in the next six stitches, then do two double-crochets in the next stitch and slipstitch to chain three of the first stitch. For round three, chain three, then double-crochet in the next three stitches and do two double-crochets in the next stitch. Double-crochet in the next nine stitches, then do two double-crochets in each of the next three stitches. Double-crochet in the next nine stitches and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round four, chain three and double-crochet in the next three stitches. Double-crochet together in the next three stitches, then double-crochet in the next 17 stitches. Double-crochet together in the next three stitches, then double-crochet in the next three stitches and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For rounds five through eight, chain three, then double-crochet in each stitch around and slipstitch to the third chain of the first stitch. For round nine, chain two and half-double-crochet in each stitch around. Fasten off and then weave in the ends.

      Sew the button to the back of the hand to hold the top of the glitten. Crochet the other glitten following the same pattern, but be sure to place the thumb on the opposite side.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure that the button is in the same place on both glittens.
