How to Make Designs With Towels

How to Make Designs With Towels thumbnail
Use various sizes of towels to complete more complex towel origami.

If you've ever been on a cruise ship or away on vacation at a fancy hotel, you might have noticed that your room steward or stewardess has transformed your otherwise boring white towels into works of art. Origami towel folding is much like the paper variety, except instead of many tiny paper animals and figures, you can create larger pieces of art. Use these fun, bath towel origami animals in a guest room or bathroom to make your guests feel like they've just stepped into a five-star resort.

Instructions

  1. Frog Origami Animal

    • 1

Lay the towel down on a flat surface, like a bed. Fold the top two corners inwards until they meet in the center. They will form a triangular point.

    • 2

Roll in the edges on one of your triangular points a few inches. Repeat on the other side. Then fold the tip of your triangle inwards about ¼ of the way towards the center of the towel.

    • 3

Flip the towel over so the point is facing away and the straight end of the towel is facing you. Roll the bottom edge of the towel about 2/3 of the way up the length of the towel, towards the triangular pointed end.

    • 4

Bring both corners of the rolled edge inwards and tuck them in so they form a slight "C" formation. Then, turn the towel over again and move the corners you just tucked in to meet in the center of the frog's body.

    • 5

Turn the frog around---the towel will now resemble a sitting frog. Add a pair of sunglasses onto the face of the frog to complete this towel arrangement.

    Cat Towel Animal

    • 6

Lay your full size bath towel on a flat work surface, such as a bed, and roll the top left corner inwards. Continue rolling from this corner until the towel becomes one long thin, rolled length of towel. This will serve as the cat's tail.

    • 7

Lay out a second towel and fold it lengthwise in half. Tuck in all edges of the folded towel to create an oval-shaped body for your cat. Just tuck the towel underneath so that the body appears long and cat-like.

    • 8

Place the rolled up tail at the base of the cat's body. Curl it any way you wish.

    • 9

Fold a matching face cloth into a triangle and then take the point of the triangle and fold it up to meet the straight edge. Then fold the outside points downward.

    • 10

Flip the facecloth over and place it at the top of the cat's body to serve as the head. Accessorize the cat with chocolates or mints for eyes.
