Creme Lightener Directions

Creme lightener masks body hair by stripping the pigment from it.

Removing unwanted body hair requires shaving frequently, which can be tedious and time consuming. Using a creme lightener can mask unwanted hair on your face, arms and legs, and its effects last longer than shaving. Lightening cremes contain hydrogen peroxide, a natural lightening agent that significantly reduces the pigment of hair strands. Creme lightener works best on hair that is short and fine, and the results usually last three to four weeks. The lightener usually comes in a kit that includes an application spatula, a mixing dish and instructions.

• Spatula
• Towel

Instructions

1. Do a patch test on a small area of skin. This will reveal if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the creme lightener. Apply a small dab of cream to your inner arm. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Rinse the creme off with cold water and pat the area dry with a towel. Monitor the area for 24 hours, and if redness, pain, discomfort or any other signs of irritation appear, do not use the product.

2. Wash the area you intend to apply the creme lightener to with soap and cold water. Do not use warm water because it will open your pores, which could lead to skin irritation after a lightening treatment.

3. Apply the creme with the spatula provided in the kit. Dab the cream on the treatment area -- do not rub it in. Make sure all hair is covered. Leave the creme on for 10 minutes.

4. Remove the cream from your skin with the spatula. Wash the area thoroughly with cold water and pat it dry with a towel.

5. Rinse the spatula with cold water to remove any creme that remains. Close the creme container tightly and store it in a cool place, along with the spatula.

Tips & Warnings

• Some creme lightening kits may require you to mix an activator powder or cream with a base cream to create the lightening formula. The mixing instructions vary in regard to measurements of each substance. Follow the instructions on your kit to determine how to mix the powder and cream properly.

• Wait until you are ready to apply to the creme before mixing the ingredients.

• Bleaching results may vary. If the hair is still too dark after the first application, apply more creme lightener. Leave it on for another 5 to 10 minutes and rinse.

• Avoid sunbathing and using products with alcohol on the treated area immediately before and after applying the creme lightener.

• When using creme lightener on facial hair, be careful around your eyes. If creme gets into your eyes, immediately rinse with cold water.
