How to Trim Partial Board
Particle board can be used in many different areas of your home. Subfloors, furniture, and shelving can all be made from particle board. Homeowners and woodworkers like particle board because it is inexpensive and easy to work with. Trimming a piece of particle board to size is similar to trimming any board to size. Some homeowners trim particle board to size on a table saw, but table saws can be expensive to purchase. A circular saw will make the same cut with just a bit of preparation. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Two saw horses
- Particle board
- Measuring tape
- Pencil or chalk line
- Safety goggles
- Dust mask
- Circular saw

Set up two saw horses. Place the particle board on top of the saw horses so that it is sturdy.

Locate the area of the particle board that needs to be cut. Measure the board and then mark the cut line with a pencil or chalk line.

Put on safety goggles and a dust mask. This will prevent you from breathing in dust particles from the board and will protect your eyes in case of accident.

Place the circular saw on the marked trim line. Begin cutting the particle board. Work slowly as you trim the board to size. Use a partner to hold certain pieces of the board in place so they don't drop to the ground once cut.
