Photobucket allows users to save and manipulate images online. You can access a variety of effects and editing options to create unique images and photo albums. You save these images online as a backup as well as on your computer. A glowing effect creates a brightness where there was not previously a glow. You can do this by reversing colors, adding colors and changing contrast. Photobucket offers a few different options to create a glowing effect.

Instructions

      Log in to your Photobucket account. If you do not have a current account, sign up for a free account by giving some basic information including your email address.

      Upload the photo for which you want to use the glow effect. You can upload many images at once into an album.

      Click the "tools" tab at the top of the Photobucket page. This will give you all the options for manipulating your photos.

      Choose the "Image Editor" button. This will call up your list of albums. Choose the album where the photo you wish to make glow has been saved. You can also select the image from your home page depending on how many images you have uploaded. The homepage will feature your most recent uploads.

      Select the photo you want to work with. You can only work with one photo at a time when editing.

      Click the "Effects" tab at the top of the page. From here you can utilize the invert effect, which creates a glow like an x-ray. The neon effect makes the darkest lines glow and you can choose the color that the lines glow. The heat map effect makes the image glow as if it were heat seeking; the darkest spots glow red.

      Choose the type of glow you wish to use. Work with the various options such as intensifying the glow or changing the color. When you are done altering the image, hit the "apply" button.

      Click on the "Save a copy" button or "Replace original." It is usually best to save a copy so you have the untouched original to work with again if you want to use a different effect.

  • You can share your images via email, Facebook, phone, Twitter and website. Photobucket provides a "get link code" tab so you can easily pull the source code to add the image to any website.

  • Link your Photobucket account to Facebook and Twitter for instant updates of any work you complete on the website.

  • Another type of glow exists under the "retro" tab of the editing page. "Lomoish" uses the original colors to create a glow on the most vibrant colors of the photo.

  • Consider whether you want to instantly post photos. Privacy is sometimes an issue, so it is usually best to handpick the images you share.
