Instructions for Solving Sudoku
Sudoku is a puzzle game that involves filling in grids with single digit numbers. Each puzzle has 81 cells in a 9-by-9 grid. Each row, column and individual 3-by-3 grid (located within the overall 9-by-9 grid) must have the numbers 1 through 9 appear in them, with no repeating digits. Although it can seem like a somewhat daunting task at first glance, you may find it enjoyable, or even addicting, after you learn how to play.

1
Examine each row to start getting ideas for where numbers will go. Each row has nine cells, and each cell will house a number, 1 through 9. However, an entire row must have the numbers 1 through 9 appear in it only once. Find a row with a lot of numbers already filled in, so that the process of elimination is easier. Fill in as many numbers as possible by using logic and deduction.

2
Repeat the previous step, except now examine the columns. Begin with columns that have a lot of numbers already filled in. Using the process of elimination, fill in as many numbers as possible.

3
Examine the 3-by-3 grids. Each one of these grids must have the numbers 1 through 9 appear in them once, and only once. Having completed the previous steps, there should be a few grids that are almost filled in completely. Use the process of elimination to finish as many grids as possible.

Repeat the process, examining each row, column and 3-by-3 grid, adding numbers until the puzzle has been filled.
