How to Be Good With the Sniper Rifle on "Halo: Reach Beta"
In "Halo: Reach Beta," players use technologically advanced weapons and equipment to destroy each other in intense, science fiction combat. One weapon the game shares with many other first-person shooters is the Sniper Rifle. This weapon allows for highly accurate aiming, coupled with high damage. Its main drawback is its slow rate of fire. Developing good marksmanship with the weapon requires a combination of hardware configuration, in-game strategy and practice. Once developed, skill with this weapon will lead to a significant tactical advantage over the enemy.

Cut down hardware lag. Use a wired controller for speed of data transfer. Use a smaller TV or monitor, preferably CRT, for fast graphics. Avoid large screens for this reason.

Turn off controller vibration. Don't let this feature hinder your aiming when precision is required.

Set the controller sensitivity between 4 and 6. This gives you a good balance between precision control and error absorption.

Let your opponent charge you when you are not using the scope. Your opponent's travel along a single line of movement means you can lead her easily.

Get higher up than your opponent. Firing downwards means that the enemy's head is more exposed. It is also harder to see and move while looking up than while looking down. This gives you an advantage.

Shoot the opponent when she is coming up the airlock. She will be following a single line of travel. Just aim along the line of movement, leading the enemy.
