1
Observe the level of dress in the industry in which you are seeking a job. A good rule of thumb is to dress a level above the everyday attire.
-
2
Select a clean, pressed solid-colored dress shirt with a collar. Go with a conservative color, and avoid shirts with patterns, monograms or other noticeable features.
-
-
3
Wear solid-colored slacks or khakis. Although they might be visible on the job site, jeans, cargo pants and other such attire should be avoided for the interview.
-
4
Choose neutral, business appropriate shoes or work boots. Bucks or Rockport style shoes are best, and sportier, more casual designs should be avoided.
-
5
Avoid cologne or perfume, and wear a minimum of jewelry. Watches, rings, and earrings are acceptable, as long as they are conservative i and used sparingly.
-
6
Pick out a belt that matches the shoes you've selected, ideally black or dark brown. Buckles should be small and unobtrusive. Wear dark colored socks.
-
7
Style hair cleanly and conservatively before the interview. Make sure beards and mustaches are neatly trimmed.
