A professional social media network, LinkedIn lets you create a profile that is similar to a resume listing your jobs, education, awards and other work-related information. The network is free to use and lets you connect with other professionals in your field of work. When updating your electronic or printed resume, you can list your LinkedIn profile address on the document so prospective employers can view additional information about you that may not be listed on your resume.

Instructions

      Click "Start" then "Computer," if using Windows, or click on your Mac's hard drive icon and navigate to the directory containing your resume document. Double click the document's file name to open it.

      Scroll to the bottom of the document and place your cursor in the location where you want to list your LinkedIn profile address.

      Open your computer's Internet browser and navigate to the LinkedIn website (linkedin.com). Log into your account with your email address and password. Click "Profile" then "View Profile" to access your personal LinkedIn profile.

      Use your mouse to highlight your LinkedIn profile address next to the wording "Public Profile." Press and hold the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard then press the "C" key to copy the address, if using Windows. If using a Mac, press and hold the "Command" key on your keyboard then press the "C" key.

      Switch back to your resume document and enter "For additional references and information, please visit my LinkedIn profile at:" or similar wording. Press and hold the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard then press the "V" key to paste the address next to the wording, if using Windows. If using a Mac, press and hold the "Command" key on your keyboard then press the "V" key.

      Click "File" and "Save" to save your resume. Click "File," "Print" and "OK" to print the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • To edit your LinkedIn profile before copying its address to your resume document, click "Profile" then "Edit Profile" before completing steps 4 through 6.
