Nailing into asphalt is not as simple as lining up a standard nail and hitting on the head with a hammer. Doing so might just splinter the asphalt and damage the surface. With a pre-drilled hole, however, you can properly insert a nail into the asphalt material without damaging the surrounding space. Things You'll Need

  • Power drill
  • Masonry bit
  • Wire brush
  • Plastic nail anchor
  • Nail

Instructions

    • 1

      Attach a masonry drill bit to the head of a power drill. The size of the drill bit should be large enough to accommodate your nail anchor. If the nail anchor is 1/4 inch wide, your masonry bit should be slightly larger.

      Press the bit to the asphalt surface and start the drill to bore a hole through the asphalt.

      Remove the bit and drill from the hole and brush out asphalt dust with a wire bristle brush.

      Insert the plastic nail anchor into the drilled hole.

      Drop the nail into the plastic anchor.
