How to Write the Equivalent If All Three Ratios Are Equivalent
Whether in elementary, middle or high school, students are asked to explore the world of ratios in varying degrees. In this exploration, students will commonly run across situations in which there are three or more equivalent measurements. There are steps they can follow to show this multilevel ratio in writing.

Write the first quantity. For example, if you are converting 12 inches to feet and yards, start by writing "12 inches."

Write an equal sign (=) to the right of the first quantity.

Write the next quantity to the right of the equal sign. From the example in Step 1, this would then be "1 foot."

Write another equal sign (=) to the right of the second quantity.

Write the third quantity to the right of the equal sign. Continuing the example, this would then be "1/3 yard."
