How to Run an Email List to Find Twitter & Facebook Followers

Increase your following by inviting your e-mail list to join your social network.

Once you've set up Facebook and Twitter feeds to help you promote your business, you'll need to find some people to follow the page. One way to get started is to tap into the network of friends and fans you already have and invite them to "Like" your new Facebook page and "follow" your new Twitter feed. To get started, have your e-mail contact list exported as a .csv (Comma Separated Values) or other list file.

Instructions

1. Log in to Facebook with your username and password and navigate to your Facebook Page. Click "Get Started" from the right-hand sidebar menu.

2. Click "Import Contacts" from the "Tell your fans" heading. Click "Browse" to locate the contacts file from your computer, then select "Open." Facebook generates an invitation to send to all the people on the contacts list. Click "Preview Invitation" to view the invite. Click the permission box, then click "Send." Your invitation is sent to all your e-mail contacts.

3. Log in to Twitter with your username and password. Click on the "Who to Follow" box at the top of the platform.

4. Click "Find Friends" from under the "Who to follow" heading, then select your e-mail provider from the list that appears. Choices include Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and more. When prompted, type in your e-mail username and password, then click "Allow" to allow Twitter to access your e-mail contact list.
