Tom Tom Directions

A GPS tells you exactly where to go.

A global positioning system (GPS) like the TomTom allows you immediate access to driving directions and maps to lead you to your destination. The device is portable and can be used in your car or while you are taking a hike or participating in geocaching. Using a TomTom device helps keep you from getting lost by providing turn-by-turn directions, as well as alternate routes and traffic updates to help you avoid obstacles as you travel to unfamiliar places.

Instructions

1. Tap the screen to bring up the main menu. From the main menu, select "Navigate to" to enter your destination.

2. Select "Address" to input a new address. If you have previously traveled to the same destination, you can select "Recent Destination" instead. To return home, tap "Home."

3. Choose the way in which you want to find your destination. Your choices are "City Center," "Street and House Number," "Zip Code" and "Cross Street or Intersection."

4. Use the keypad that appears on the screen to enter the appropriate information. For "City Center," enter the city name; for "Street and House Number," enter the exact address, city first; for "Zip Code," enter the ZIP code; for "Cross Street or Intersection," enter the street names.

5. Select whether there is a time at which you must arrive at your destination. If there is, enter the time when you wish to arrive.

6. Tap "Done" to begin directions to your destination. If you have chosen to arrive at a particular time, the TomTom will let you know if you are on track to arrive on time, early or late.

Tips & Warnings

• Use the arrival time option to help you determine when to leave the house to arrive at your destination at the proper time.
