Instructions

    • 1

Determine the safest place in the house and move spare pillows and blankets in there. This is typically a small room underneath stairs, a middle bathroom or a basement.

    • 2

Store the emergency items in this safe room with the exception of the gasoline. The gasoline should be stored in the garage or shop due to the potential for fumes and fire.

    • 3

Stock up on bottled water and food to last your entire family at least one week. These supplies should be replaced each year to ensure they are fresh and adequate.

    • 4

Develop a plan that will outline what to do, when and how with your family. This includes where to go in the event of severe weather. The largest issue in today's infrastructure is the loss of electricity. Any serious event could knock out the electricity for days or weeks. Without power, gasoline stations and ATM machines will not operate.
