How to Get Around FTP Error: 226
"FTP Error 226" is one of the common error codes that come up while managing a website. It specifically means: "closing data connection. Requested file action successful (for example, file transfer or file abort)." More simplified, this tells you that there was a data transfer that was halted for some reason. There are a few methods to prevent this from happening.

1
Create subfolders for the files and then transfer them. If you are transferring a lot of files (for example, more than 2,000), you may get the 226 error. This is one work-around.

2
Utilize STFP, instead of FTP, to transfer your files. SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) does not truncate your number of files per folder, as is the case with FTP.
