How Do I Set Up CCTV Wireless Cameras to Internet With RCA Cables?

CCTV is a closed-circuit system that is used with security systems. Video can be recorded onto a DVR and you can view it on the Internet. To do this you need to connect the CCTV receiver to the DVR and then connect the DVR to the Internet. You can connect the CCTV receiver to your DVR using a variety of cables, but the most common is a standard RCA cable.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect one end of the RCA cable to the rear of the CCTV receiver. Connect the other end of the cable to the "Video" port on the back of the DVR.

    • 2

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the "Internet" port on the back of your DVR. Plug the other end of the cable to an open port on your router.

    • 3

Review the instruction manual to initialize a connection between the DVR and the Internet. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the process. Determine which port is used by the DVR for outbound traffic, such as 80.

    • 4

Go to the What is My IP Address website and make a note of your external IP.

    • 5

Access the Internet from a computer that is not connected to your router.

    • 6

Type your external IP address into the address bar with the port number used by your DVR. Enter this as "http://192.168.X.X:80" and then press the "Enter" key. You should see the interface for your DVR on the screen.
