Open "Sound Recorder" on Windows by clicking "Start," then typing "Sound Recorder" into the search field. Press "Enter" on your keyboard. Connect a microphone to your computer's "line-in" or "microphone" port. Turn the microphone on if it has a Power switch. Click "Start Recording," and play an instrument or sing into the microphone. Click "Stop Recording" when you're finished. A prompt will automatically appear for you to save the file. Choose a Save location, such as the Desktop, enter a name for the music file, and then click "Save." Close "Sound Recorder."

Sign-up for a music distribution service or file hosting website, such as Song Cast Music at SongCastMusic.com, Megaupload at Megaupload.com or RapidShare at RapidShare.com. Some music distribution websites may allow you to upload a certain number of songs for free, while others may require you to pay for an account. File-hosting websites, on the other hand, allow you to upload the song for free. You will have to distribute and advertise the song on your own if you choose a file-hosting service.
