Sand the surface of the wall with a sanding block. If you have wallpaper on the wall, wet it with warm water and remove it with a wallpaper scraper before you sand the wall with the sanding block.

    • 2

Wipe down the surface of the wall with tack cloth to remove dust and debris.

    • 3

Apply a ¼-inch layer of stucco onto the surface of the wall with a trowel. Keep the surface as level as possible. Avoid unsightly lines in the stucco by overlapping stokes by 50 percent. Take a 20-minute break before moving on.

    • 4

Roll over the stucco with a paint roller to create the texture on the wall. Press lightly with the roller to avoid moving the stucco around on the wall. The more times you roll over the stucco, the more texture you will create on the wall. Stop when you are satisfied with the texture. Allow 24 to 48 hours for drying before painting.
