How to Disable DHCP Functions
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a networking technology that allows routers to automatically assign Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and Domain Name System (DNS) server numbers (the information necessary to connect to the Internet) to connected computers. The default setting for every router is for DHCP to be enabled, but if you want to prevent new connections to your network, it isn't difficult to disable DHCP from functioning.

1
Log in to your router's configuration utility. This is usually done by typing the router's internal IP address ("192.168.0.1," "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.2.1") in your Web browser's address bar.

2
Click on the "LAN Setup" link (or a similarly named link) in the "Advanced" section of the Configuration menu.

3
Deselect the "Use Router as DHCP Server" check box (or a similarly named box), and click "Apply" or "Save." You may now log out of your router's configuration utility. DHCP functions on your router are disabled.
