Whether you're trying to create a duck costume for a play or a Halloween costume, or you want to create a duck craft project, a piece that is vital to the animal is a bill. Creating a duckbill can be achieved using paper plates, markers and a few other basic craft supplies.

Step 1

Color the top and bottom of a paper plate with an orange marker. If you're making a duckbill for an adult costume, use a dinner-sized paper plate; if you're making a child costume or a duck craft, use a dessert-sized paper plate.

Step 2

Fold the paper plate in half inward. The bottom of the paper plate should be facing out, creating the outer portion of the bill and the top of the paper plate should be facing in, creating the inside of the duckbill.

Step 3

Color two 1-to-2-inch circles side-by-side on the center of the outer portion of the paper plate. The two circles represent the nose holes.

Step 4

Run glue along the outer folded portion of the paper plate and press it onto your duck craft, if you're creating a duckbill for a craft.

Step 5

Punch a hole on either side of the outer portion of the creased part of the paper plate. Cut two pieces of yarn, thread one piece through each hole and tie a knot in the end of each piece of yarn. Use the yarn to tie the duckbill onto the face, creating a duckbill for a costume.
