How to Draw Sweethearts

How to Draw Sweethearts thumbnail
Sweethearts are known for their pastel colors and heart shape.

The best-selling Valentine's Day candy, Sweethearts, display short, romantic messages such as "Be Mine" or "Perfect 10." Often called conversation hearts, Sweethearts are shaped like rounded hearts and come in a variety of colors and flavors. Drawings of Sweethearts add a festive, romantic touch to a scene. To create a realistic representation of a candy bowl, draw several layers of conversation hearts. You may wish to add special messages to the hearts for a romantic or humorous touch.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw the shape of a short, heart. Erase the tip of the heart and replace it with a rounded edge.

    • 2

Write a message in the center of the heart. The message should be short and contain all capital letters. The letters are thin. Possible messages include "Hug Me" and "Love."

    • 3

Draw additional hearts surrounding these hearts.

    • 4

Add a second layer of hearts, if you wish to draw a bowl of Sweethearts. Draw a heart that covers the original layer of hearts. Erase the messages and lines of the heart under the top candy heart and write a message on the top candy heart. Continue adding new hearts to the second layer.

    • 5

Draw a turned or sideways candy heart to create a more 3-D look. Draw the right side of the heart so that it is slightly more vertical than usual. Connect it to a flattened left side, creating a sweetheart that looks too thin. On the right side of the heart, draw a line that runs parallel to the side of the heart. Connect the parallel lines at the top and bottom of the heart. Write the message so that the letters appear thinner than usual.
