How to Go Offline When Playing Facebook Games

Facebook offers many features for you to use while visiting the website, including emails, applications and instant messaging. Instant messaging allows you to chat with your Facebook friends in real-time. If you are playing an intense game and do not want to be bothered by your Facebook friends via instant messaging, you can turn off Facebook Chat to appear offline. Although other Facebook users cannot communicate with you via Chat, they can still send you a Facebook private message.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Facebook account.

2. Click the "Chat" bar at the bottom of any Facebook page and the "Chat" menu expands on your screen.

3. Click the "Options" button at the top of the "Chat" menu.

4. Click "Go Offline" from the drop-down list. You become invisible to friends in Facebook Chat and the "Chat" menu closes.

5. Click the game that you want to play from the left hand column of your homepage.

Tips & Warnings

• To go online after playing games, click the "Chat (Offline)" bar at the bottom of any Facebook page. Your "Chat" bar refreshes and you appear online to friends.
