How to Take Care of an Albino Ferret
Albino ferrets have a distinctive look with their white fur, pink nose and red eyes. Albino ferrets are no different than colored ferrets except for the lack of pigmentation, which causes sensitivity to sunlight. In the wild, they are at risk to predators because they are not able to easily hide from them. As this no longer being a problem for domestic pets, taking care of them requires basically the same treatment as their colored family members.

Put your albino ferret into a secure cage with a latch. Place the cage in an area away from direct sunlight. The recommended temperature in the room should be between 55 and 70 degrees. Line the bottom of the cage with soft material that can be washed. Materials such as blankets, towels and sweaters are suitable for bedding.

Feed your albino ferrets a well-balanced meal daily. Foods that are high in energy and protein are suitable. Feed your ferret with either a high-quality cat food or ferret food, which can be bought at pet stores. Since ferrets eat small meals regularly throughout the day, food and water should always be available. Treats such as cooked chicken, mashed boiled eggs and sliced melon can be given occasionally.

Place a small plastic tray or cardboard box in one corner of the ferret's cage to be used as a litter box. Put at least 1 inch of pelleted product, such as plant fibers, inside the litter box. This will prevent the litter from clumping, which can cause irritation of the albino ferret's eyes.

Let your albino ferret out of the cage occasionally so that it can roam freely. Since albino ferrets have limited vision, you should speak calmly and avoid sudden movements when you are around them.

Clean the ferret's ears at least once a week to prevent ear mites and to remove ear wax. Soak a cotton swab in a cleanser purchased from a pet store, then use it to clean the inside of the ear.

Tips & Warnings
Do not give albino ferrets toys that can be easily shredded and swallow. Toys that are made from hard plastic are a good choice.
Prevent digestion problems by avoiding certain foods, such as raisins.
