Modbooks are tablets created by modifying an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro. Developed by Los Angeles based Axiotron, Modbooks use touch screen technology coupled with Mac operating systems to offer a top of the line, all in one studio. Modbooks can be used to create digital art, as well. With the right software and your imagination, you can learn how to draw on a Modbook in no time at all. Just follow these simple steps.

Open Sketchbook Express 2009 and familiarize yourself with the workstation. On the left you will find a window showcasing your drawing tools. These include pencil, pen, marker, paint brush, eraser and shapes. On the right you have a color wheel and color grid. Under this, a window displays your layers. The open space in between is your canvas, or workstation.

Choose your tools and colors. Using the stylus that comes with your Modbook, tap the tool you would like to use to draw. For thin, crisp lines, you would choose the pencil or pen. For thicker, stronger lines, the paintbrush would be the tool to choose. After your tool is chosen, use the stylus to tap the color you would like to draw with.

4
Draw your picture. Once the drawing tool and color are chosen, you can begin drawing on the workstation. Use the stylus as you would a pen or pencil and draw on the workstation as if it were a piece of sketch paper. Tap the eraser tool and use the stylus to undo any mistakes. Once you have a few images completed, you can use the paint bucket tool to fill in color.
