How to Write a Letter to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is an emotional reality show that gives deserving families a new start in life. Ty Pennington and his team of designers and workers take seven days to rebuild and in some cases, knock down and build a new home. The families go on vacation during this process, usually to Disneyland. Many volunteers unite to help build, including contractors who sometimes pay for the complete process and the remaining mortgage. Download the application on the show's website to be considered as a contestant.

Fill out the 18-page questionnaire and submit the completed application.

Make a video of your family's current situation and the reasons to be on "Extreme Makeover." A family can also be nominated by friends, family or neighbors. Add photos of the family as well as the home to be renovated with the application.

Tips & Warnings
Most families chosen for the show are admired members of their community and have done a lot of volunteer work for others. Families having members with disabilities, diseases or have had major tragedy are usually chosen.
When sending in videos and photos, be aware that these become the property of the network and you will not get anything back. The show receives thousands of applications, so it may take some time for yours to be reviewed.
