Every Christmas children leave a plate of cookies and a glass of milk for Santa Claus in eager anticipation for him to come down the chimney and deliver their presents. Carrying presents all around the world is a hard job, but luckily Santa has the support of his wife Mrs. Claus, who waits at home for him after a long night's work. Drawing Mrs. Claus carrying a tray of freshly-baked cookies is easy. It is an ideal and easy to prepare Christmas activity for small children and makes a nice addition to the rest of the Christmas decorations.

Instructions

      Draw a circle for the head on the paper using the pencil. Attach smaller circles for the ears and nose. Add the bottom half of a semicircle for the mouth and the top half of a semicircle for the eyes. Use the eraser to remove the line between the ears and the head.

      Create the body by drawing a big rounded shape. Draw the base flat. Draw ovals for the oven mittens just inside the rounded shape, halfway between the head and the base.

      Add detail to Mrs. Claus' face by giving her glasses, earrings, hair and a hat. Draw two circles around the eyes and attach them with a straight line for the glasses. Draw two smaller circles under the ears for the earrings. Draw a round shape for the hat with smaller attached semicircles for the brim. Divide the hat in two by drawing a horizontal line through it just above the brim. Fill in the remaining space below the brim and above and beside the glasses with hair. Use the eraser to remove any redundant pencil lines.

      Draw an apron with thin straps coming down from her shoulders and ending with semicircles at the bottom. Add a square pocket on the apron in between the hands. Draw a long rectangle with rounded edges at the flat baseline of the body for the hem. Draw two oval shaped feet under the rectangle.

      Draw the tray of cookies by penciling a thin rectangle between the hands and adding small ovals on top.

      Add color to Mrs Claus using colored pencils or crayons. Color her mittens and feet black. Color the cookies light brown, and the top of the hat, the earrings, the apron pocket and the body around the apron red. Use gray to color the hair and pink for the face. Leave the apron, the hem and the brim of the hat white.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't draw the head too big or else the rest of the body might not fit onto the page.
