Having the right tools is essential to build an outdoor tic-tac-toe game. Using a wooden box to build it is a challenge. Keep the tools as simple as possible. Follow a set plan before starting the project. With these ideas in mind, you will have control over the outcome of the project. Get the correct measurements for all the pieces. Work precisely while creating on the small pieces to eliminate any errors.

Building the Board Game
-
1
Cut all the boards from the wooden box out using a jigsaw. Ensure all the boards are 21-inches in height and width. Sand the boards to make them soft. Mark the top of one of the boards every 7 inches across the length and width with a pencil. Connect all the corresponding marks using a ruler and a pencil. This will be the platform.
-
2
Cut another board into four 2-inch-wide pieces using the jigsaw. Sand all the pieces. Cut two of the four pieces into four 6-by-2-inch pieces and the other two into 5-by-2-inch pieces. Sand all the pieces.

3
Glue the two 21-by-2-inch pieces on two of the middle lines you drew on the platform. Glue the two 5-by-2-inch pieces on the lines drawn between the first two pieces glued. This will create the three middle squares. Take the remaining four 6--by-2-inch pieces and glue them over the remaining drawn lines on the platform. This will create the top and bottom three squares. Let the glue dry for five minutes.

4
Use the other sides of the wooden box to cut out 10 squares, 4-by-4 inches each. Sand the squares to make them soft and exactly the same dimensions. Use red paint to draw in the "O's" on five of the squares and draw in the "X's" on the other five pieces using the black paint. Allow 10 minutes to dry.
-
5
Polish everything, including the "X's" and "O's" with beeswax. This will protect them from moisture damage.
