How to Make Propane BBQ Ribs
Making ribs is a point of contention among many grilling enthusiasts. Opinions vary on the spices that should be used, the type of sauce and even whether a propane gas grill or charcoal grill is the better method. The cooking method for propane and charcoal grills is basically the same. However, propane grills have the distinct advantage of faster preparation because you simply have to turn on the gas source and ignite the flame. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Rub a selection of dry spices over the ribs about two hours before cooking. Alternatively, you can use a marinade of wet ingredients, but dry rubs are preferred because you will later add a wet barbecue sauce to the ribs.
-
2
Turn the valve on the propane tank, turn the knobs on the grill to ignite the flame and then adjust the heat controls to a low or medium-low setting.

3
Add a foil packet of wet wood chips, such as hickory or apple wood to the grill rack if desired. This will infuse the meat with a smoky wood flavor. Alternatively, you can add the wood chips to a smoking chip tray if your grill has one.
-
4
Put the rack of ribs on the grill rack as far from direct flame as possible. You want to cook the ribs slowly, so it may be helpful to turn off about half of the grill's burners.
-
5
Grill the ribs for two to three hours, turning occasionally, or until the ribs reach an internal temperature of 155 degrees F. The cooking time varies depending on the size of the ribs, so use a meat thermometer for exact measurement.
-
6
Slather the ribs on both sides with your choice of BBQ sauce. Close the lid and allow the ribs to cook for another 10 minutes.
-
7
Baste the ribs on both sides with BBQ sauce if more is desired. Cook the ribs until they reach a temperature of 160 degrees F.
