The Sony PS2 was one of the first video game systems to include universal serial bus (USB) ports. With these USB ports, gamers can insert a USB keyboard and mouse to use with their gaming. The USB ports can also be used to insert USB pen drives into the PS2 to use with software and games that support the alternative storage method. The USB pen drive needs to first be formatted into a file system the PS2 can recognize.

Insert the pen drive into the computer's USB port and click the "Start" button on the computer desktop. Click "My Computer" or "Computer" from the Start menu.

Right-click the pen drive from the next window and click "Format" from the context screen that comes up.

Click the "File System" option on the next window that comes up and click "FAT32" as the file system. Click "Quick Format" as the formatting method.

Click "Start" and the pen drive is formatted into the FAT32 file system, which can be used with the Sony PS2.
