How to Make Coffee Cup Coasters
Coffee cups get hot enough to leave white rings behind on your wooden tables. Preventing damage to your tables is as simple as using a set of coasters. If you don't own a set of coasters, they can be made inexpensively at home. All you need is a few arts and crafts supplies and a handful of old CDs you no longer plan on using.

1
Go through your old CDs, tossing out any that are cracked or broken. Scratches won't affect the end product so you can keep those.
-
2
Place a sheet of cork on your table and set a CD on top of it. Cut around the CD with a utility knife so that the cork is the same size as the CD. Repeat for each CD you want to turn in to a coaster.

3
Attach the cork to the bottom of your CD with hot glue from a hot glue gun. The cork will protect your table surfaces from becoming scratched by the old CD.
-
4
Decorate the top of the coaster with home photos, magazine photos, stickers or any other craft item you have on hand. If any of the pictures hang over the edge of the CD, you will need to trim them with a pair of scissors. If the items you use do not have an adhesive backing, use a glue stick to attach them.

Set your CD on a piece of contact paper and cut around it with a pair of scissors. Remove the backing and stick on top of your decorations. Smooth out any bubbles. Your CD coffee coaster is now protected from any spills.

Tips & Warnings
Capture memories from your children by having them draw and color pictures. Use those pictures to decorate the coasters. Use letter stickers to designate a coaster for each family member.
Young children should not use the hot glue gun as it can result in a serious burn if it is not used properly.
