How to Remove the Bottom on a MacBook
The Apple MacBook has a design that might be considered unconventional by those who are accustomed to performing upgrades on Windows-based notebooks; rather than removing small covers or panels to access the most common components, you must remove the entire bottom panel of the MacBook before doing any upgrades. Remove the bottom panel of your MacBook if you need to replace or upgrade a component such as the memory or hard drive.

Place a fingertip in the seam between the bottom panel and main body of the MacBook at the corner of the computer, and lift up to separate the panel. Work around the edge of the computer to remove the panel. Note the clicking noises as you disconnect the internal securing clips. Apply even pressure when lifting to avoid warping the panel.

Tips & Warnings
When replacing the MacBook's bottom panel, replace the screws in a criss-cross pattern, alternating between the front and back side of the computer. This helps to prevent warping of the panel.
