How to Get Your Name on Twitter, Facebook, & Google thumbnail
Setting up a Twitter profile helps you increase name awareness online.

Creating accounts with Twitter, Facebook and Google Profiles can help get your name recognized on the Internet. All three services feature public profiles that are quickly indexed by several search engines, including Google, Yahoo! and Bing. Once you have your profile indexed by a search engine, you have a higher chance of someone discovering your name through these networking tools.

Instructions

  1. Twitter

    • 1

Open twitter.com in a Web browser.

    • 2

Click "New to Twitter?" in the top menu. Type your full name, your email address and a new password into the appropriate text fields. Click "Sign Up."

    • 3

Verify your information on the next page and select the username that you want to use. Twitter will suggest a few names for your use, but you may select any username that isn't taken. Click the "Create my account" button to continue.

    • 4

Go to your email account and click the verification link in the email that Twitter sends you. After clicking the link, you are taken to your Twitter account in a new browser window or tab.

    • 5

Click your username from the top navigation bar while signed into the Twitter website. Select the "Settings" option from the drop-down menu.

    • 6

Click the "Profile" tab and update the information on this page. Include your location, website address if you have one and enter a short 160-character biography. Click the "Save" button to update your public profile. Write a descriptive bio to help increase your search engine visibility.

    Facebook

    • 7

      Go to Facebook.com.

    • 8

Type in the required information in the text fields under the "Sign Up" section. You will need to enter your first and last names, your email address and a new password. Select your gender and enter in your birthday.

    • 9

Click the "Sign Up" button when finished. On the next page, you must complete a security check. Click the "Sign Up" button again.

    • 10

Finish the profile setup process on the next three pages. When done, click the "Save & Continue" button.

    • 11

Go to your email account and click the verification link in the email that Facebook sends you. Your account is not live for indexing until you click the confirmation link.

    • 12

Click the "Edit My Profile" link below the profile picture on the left sidebar. Proceed to fill in the optional sections to fill out your profile. The more information you include, the easier it is for people searching your name to find you.
