How to Treat a Canadian Flag
The maple leaf is Canada's national symbol, and is featured on the country's flag. It sits centered on a white background, bordered by two vertical red stripes of equal size. As with a flag of any nation of the world, the Canadian flag deserves a position of prominence in a display setting, and can be mounted either indoors or outdoors. The flag should be maintained regularly to avoid rips, tears or stains.

1
Mount the flag on a flagpole and ensure that once it is raised, it will be displayed right-side up. The higher a flag is raised on a flagpole, the more visible it becomes from further distances, allowing it to be observed by more people. It will also catch winds more easily. During especially windy days, the flag may rip; should this occur, take it down and repair or replace it.

2
Affix the flag on the mantle over a fireplace. Fireplaces are commonly regarded as the gathering place of a household and this method of displaying the flag is a sign of respect.

3
Mount the flag in a window of a household on the main floor or second story with tacks. This may hamper the view but will protect the flag from the wind and rain while also symbolizing to passersby that the residents of the house are either former citizens of Canada, dual citizens, or have relatives there.

4
Embroider it to clothing or luggage. Displaying the flag or even just the maple leaf on your garments or luggage proudly shows others you are a citizen or Canada or consider yourself a friend of the country.
