Paper Heart Garland
Decorate your home or classroom for Valentine's or Sweetest Day by stringing a paper heart garland above a doorway, across a wall or hang garland pieces from a chandelier. Engage children in the creation of the heart garland while practicing cutting and paper folding skills. A heart paper garland is similar to a common circular paper chain, but is made from paper strip hearts rather than circles. For a festive look, create patterns with different heart colors.
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut 1-inch strips of red, pink and white construction paper along the short width of the paper. The number of strips is dependent on how long the garland will be.
-
2
Fold each strip in half by matching the strip ends and pressing the paper crease down firmly. Unfold the strip, round the ends and place them together, outsides touching, to create a heart shape.
-
-
3
Staple the ends together into the heart shape. Thread another strip through the first heart, round the paper strip ends and staple it together into another heart shape. Repeat this process to use all the strips or until the desired length of garland is achieved. Pattern the color of the paper strips like red, white, pink, red, white, pink and so on.

Tips & Warnings
For another paper heart garland option, fold a long strip of paper back and forth like a fan. Cut a heart shape into all layers, leaving a portion of each edge intact, and unfold the paper to reveal the paper garland.
