How to Sew a Rolled Hem With a Rolled Hem Attachment
Sewing a rolled hem on the bottom of skirts, pants, costumes, cloth napkins and table linens reveals a clean edge and hides any fraying fabric within the double-folded hem. Sewing machine manufacturers have developed a rolled hem foot you can attach to your sewing machine to make completing a rolled hem even less complicated --- and without pins.

1
Heat an iron to the setting in accordance with the type of fabric. Iron 1/8 inch of fabric along a length of 4 to 6 inches on the fabric's edge on an ironing board.
-
2
Insert a rolled hem foot into your sewing machine following the manufacturer's instructions. Lift the rolled hem presser attachment, or foot, and insert the 1/8-inch ironed crease of the fabric under the foot.

3
Pull the fabric gently into the curl of the rolled hem presser foot, and sew a few stitches slowly to ensure the fabric is rolling before you stitch it. If the fabric is not cooperating with the foot, assist by rolling the fabric over, making a tunnel or tube into the presser foot as you sew.
-
4
Sew slowly to the end of the fabric or rolled hem, snip the thread with scissors and trim the excess thread at the start of the stitch row.
