How to Customize Hang Tags

When you operate a business in the fashion industry, it is important to stand out and be recognized for who you are. You must pay attention to the details and make sure that each element of your clothing line stands out -- this includes the hang tag. Whether you choose to make hang tags yourself or have someone else make them for you, you can create a unique design that will help your brand stand out.

Things You'll Need

• Pencil
• Paper
• Design software (optional)
• Hole punch
• Ribbon or string

Instructions

1. Choose a material out of which to make your hang tag. For example, some clothing companies use fabric for their hang tags that they use often in their clothing.

2. Look at the hang tags of other clothing companies to help you generate your own ideas. Don't copy the tags of other companies, but use their examples to see how they institute their personal style into their tags.

3. Sketch a draft of your hang tag idea and present it to a graphic designer or design it yourself in a computer design program such as Adobe Photoshop.

4. Create a layout of the tag in the size and design you want and save the computer file.

5. Transfer the file to a print company that can print out your hang tags or print them out yourself on heavy paper.

6. Punch a hole in the top of the tags and string a piece of yarn, ribbon or other material through the hole to make a loop.

7. Attach the tag to your clothing with a safety pin or tie it through a button hole or other opening.
