How to Make a Lady Gaga Costume With Caution Tape

Use caution tape to create a costume for Halloween.

Best known for her outrageous costumes, Lady Gaga is a modern pop star who made her mainstream debut in 2008. One of her more memorable costumes is the caution tape costume from the "Telephone" music video. If you want to dress as Lady Gaga for your next costume party or for Halloween and are not afraid to show a lot skin, this is the costume for you. Using nothing more than caution tape, you can create your own costume in little time.

Things You'll Need

• Brush
• Rubber band
• Flesh-colored leotard
• Spirit gum
• Caution tape
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Brush your hair back into a low ponytail. On the last wrap of the rubber band, do not pull your hair all the way through; instead, create a loose bun.

2. Wear a flesh-colored leotard or body suit. Alternatively, wear a flesh-colored bikini. Although this is not required, it helps keep you covered in case the tape shifts.

3. Apply a line of spirit gum to the end of a roll of caution tape on the backside. Press the end of the caution tape to the inside of your left ankle. Wrap the tape around your ankle until it overlaps itself once. Apply spirit gum to the back of the tape where it crosses over itself.

4. Wrap the tape up your calf at an angle. Continue wrapping over you knee and up your thigh for two full wraps. Apply spirit gum to the tape every 6 inches to secure it to your body. On the third wrap, bring the tape around your upper inner thigh and over your hip.

5. Bring the tape between your legs and around front. Pull the tape upward and over your right hip. Apply spirit gum where the tape touches your hip.

6. Pull the tape up your back, applying more spirit gum every 6 inches to secure it. Pull the tape around to the front of your body at the breast line. Wrap the tape around your breasts three times to fully cover them.

7. Bring the tape from under your right armpit across your chest and over your right shoulder. Pull the tape down your back and between your legs, pulling the tape to the front of your body. Apply spirit gum every 6 inches, as before.

8. Bring the tape up the front center of your body. Pull the tape to the left and over you left shoulder. Apply spirit gum where the tape crosses your shoulder. Lead the tape around the back of your neck and wrap it around two times.

9. Pull the tape under your chin and around the top of your head. Wrap it over your head and under your chin one time. Then, bring it up the side of your face and wrap the tape around your forehead one time.

10. Wrap the tape around the bun in your hair one time. Cut the tape and tie the loose end of the tape around the bun in your hair to secure it.

Tips & Warnings

• Spirit gum is available at costume supply stores. It is a liquid adhesive safe for skin.

• The amount of tape needed depends on your height and body size.

• Lady Gaga has platinum blond hair. If you want a more realistic look, use a blonde wig or dye your hair.
