How to Hide Calendar Events on Outlook

Outlook is an email and calendar management program bundled with Microsoft's Office software suite. When using the calendar tools to schedule your appointments and events, sometimes you want the event to be hidden, especially if your calendar details are shared with others. Although there is no way to simply make an event invisible, there are two ways to remove the details of the calendar event.

Instructions

  1. To Hide the Details of an Event

    • 1

Open Outlook and click "Calendar" on the navigation pane.

    • 2

Open your calendar and double-click on the event you want to hide.

    • 3

Click "Private" on the far right of the "Appointment" tab -- the icon resembles a lock. Click "Save & Close." This event will show as "Private Appointment" on your shared calendar, and the details will be hidden.

To Hide Access to Your Calendar

    • 4

Open Outlook and click "Calendar" on the navigation pane.

    • 5

Right-click on the calendar you want to hide and click "Change Sharing Permissions." The "Calendar Properties" screen will appear.

    • 6

Click the black down arrow to the right of "Permission Level" and click "None" on the drop-down menu of permission options.

    • 7

Click "OK" on the warning screen to acknowledge the change you are making and then click "OK" on the "Calendar Properties" screen. All items on the particular calendar will now be hidden.
