How to Draw Scary People
Horrific art typically contains disturbing subject matter. One element featured in a lot of horror art is characters drawn in a sinister, or scary, fashion. Many artists use a variety of shading techniques to help convey the scary appeal of the people they draw. Using these same techniques, you can draw scary people in your art work too.

1
Draw your character. It doesn't matter whether you choose a male or female. The techniques for creating scary features will be the same. Draw the basic outline of the hair and head first. For the head, draw an oval shape. Narrow the oval as you near where the chin will be. This adds a sharpness to the chin that can help enhance the scary aspect of the drawing.
-
2
Draw the hair around the oval next. Any hairstyle will work, but as you draw the lines around the face for the hair, consider bringing some of the bangs down over the forehead. Drawing bangs long enough to partially obscure the eyes is a typical characteristic of scary drawings, particularly in anime art.

3
Draw eyes. To capture something scary with the eyes, create a sideways look in the pupils you draw. You're looking for a shifty effect or trying to capture a lack of empathy, so avoid drawing eyes that are wide and innocent. Shading around the eyes can help bring out a more sinister look or suggest a dark personality.

4
Draw a nose. Begin the vertical line for the nose centered between the eyes and just below them. Extend the line for the bridge of the nose and end it with a sharp point just above where you will draw the mouth. Add shading around the corners of the nose to help bring it away from the paper.
-
5
Draw a mouth on your character. Draw the lines for the mouth upturned. The more exaggerated the curve of the lines, the better for your drawing. The goal is to create a sneer rather than a jovial smile, similar to the Joker in Batman. Draw crooked or broken squares inside the mouth for teeth. Add a fang shape in each corner of the mouth to create a scary supernatural person.

6
Add angled shading on the cheeks to give a sharp edge to the cheekbone structure. Shade around the tip of the nose to help bring it away from the paper. The dark shading will enhance the scary element of your character. Additionally, drawing lines on the brow of your character or around the mouth can help enhance the shading and bring out the shadowy features suggestive of evil.
